Organic products co Suminter secures Rs.25-Cr debt from BlackSoil Capital

Mumbai-based Suminter India Organics has secured INR 25 crore (USD 2.6 million) debt from BlackSoil Capital. The investment will support the company in sourcing organic food ingredients and expanding engagement with its farmer network.Founded by Sameer Mehra, the company operates an integrated farm-to-market platform that manages the sourcing, processing, and global distribution of organic food products. It serves international markets including the U.S. and Europe, with a portfolio that features spices, oilseeds, cocoa, and natural fibers.The company intends to use the capital to increase its sourcing scale and further develop its supply chain. The firm currently works with a network of over 100,000 smallholder farmers across India, the Philippines, and Africa, providing traceability and sustainability solutions to international food and ingredient brands.

Between Dec 2007 and Jan 2023, Suminter India Organics had attracted about USD 167 M from Capricorn, Impact Fund Denmark, Morgan Stanley, responsAbility, IFC, Nexus Venture Partners and others.
