Telecom operator Vodafone Idea raises Rs.6,400-Cr in first tranche of funding
Telecom operator Vodafone Idea has raised INR 6,400 crore in an initial funding tranche to support its planned INR 45,000 crore network expansion program. The capital includes proceeds from warrants and various debt facilities provided by a consortium of public sector banks, Indian private banks, and external commercial borrowings from foreign lenders. The company is currently engaged with these lenders to complete its broader debt-raising strategy.The company, formed by the merger of Vodafone and Idea in 2019, reported 193.1 million subscribers as of June 2026. The firm intends to use the new funds to deploy 55,000-57,000 4G sites and 86,000-90,000 5G sites over the next three years.Post the first funding tranche, the company continues to work toward closing talks with the State Bank of India-led consortium of public sector banks to secure remaining debt requirements.
For FY25, Vodafone Idea had reported about INR 44,385 Cr in Operating Income and about INR 34,482 Cr in PAT.
