GMR Airports to raise Rs.6,500-Cr

New Delhi-based GMR Airports plans to raise INR 6,500 crore to strengthen its balance sheet and fund its expanding portfolio. The fundraising comprises INR 5,000 crore through equity and other securities, including a qualified institutional placement (QIP) and INR 1,500 crore via non-convertible bonds.Founded in 1996 by G.M Rao, GMR Airports manages Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and Goa’s Manohar International Airport. Recently, the company inaugurated the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Bhogapuram in Andhra Pradesh and took over operations at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur under a 30-year concession. The company has announced an investment of INR 300 crore for the Nagpur airport.The company previously raised INR 5,900 crore through non-convertible bonds in the first half of fiscal year 2025-26 to refinance existing debt. As of 31 March 2026, it reported a consolidated net debt of approximately INR 34,000 crore. In the same fiscal year, the company recorded a consolidated gross income of INR 15,200 crore and managed a total of 121.6 million passengers across its portfolio of domestic and international airports.

Between Mar 2011 and Feb 2025, GMR Airports Holding had attracted about USd 554-M from SBI-Macquarie, Affirma Capital, JM Financial, Ares SSG, GIC, Aditya Birla PE, StanChart PE, Varde Partners and others.
