Husk Power Systems raises $6-M from EDFI ElectriFI
Patna, Bihar-headquartered Husk Power Systems has raised USD 6 million debt financing from EU-based EDFI ElectriFI. Founded in 2008, the company provides power to rural communities and businesses, entirely from renewable energy sources The funds will be used to build solar hybrid microgrids in 80 additional communities in rural India. The new microgrids are in addition to the more than 120 microgrids that Husk already owns and operates in the country. The company claims that the 80 solar microgrids will benefit an estimated 60,000 people and connect nearly 10,000 new customers. Operating across Asia and Africa, Husk will double its customer base of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), which drive rural economic activity through the construction of the new grids.
