Carmaker Volkswagen’s India-arm in talks to raise funding from JSW Group: report
Wolfsburg, Germany-based Volkswagen Group is in talks to rope in Mumbai-based JSW Group as a strategic investor for its India business, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India. The talks are aimed at securing fresh capital and leveraging a strong local partner. JSW is interested in acquiring a majority stake in the venture.The proposed partnership could help Volkswagen accelerate its growth in India, where it has struggled to gain significant market share despite recent product launches. For JSW, the deal would expand its automotive footprint and provide access to Volkswagen's global technology, manufacturing expertise, and future vehicle platforms, including electric vehicles.
For FY25, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India had reported about INR 19,053 Cr in Operating Income and about INR 94 Cr in PAT.
