HUL sells water purification biz Pureit to AO Smith for Rs.601-Cr

Publicly-listed fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) firm Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) has sold its water purification business Pureit to A.O Smith’s Indian business for INR 601 crore (USD 72 million). The sale includes trademarks, copyrights and other intellectual properties and identified assets and contracts associated with the business, as a going concern on a slump sale basis.Pureit water purifier was launched in 2004 in Chennai and was later launched across the country in 2008. Pureit offers Copper RO, Pureit Eco Range, Pureit Ultima RO, Pureit UV purifiers, Classic UV Water Purifier and Marvella UV Water Purifiers.
