Zydus Lifesciences to acquire US-based cancer drugs maker Assertio for Rs.1,570-Cr

Mumbai-based, publicly listed Zydus Lifesciences is to acquire the US-based, Nasdaq-listed Assertio Holdings in a USD 166.4 million (INR 1,570 crore) all-cash deal. The acquisition will be executed through Zydus’ subsidiary, Zydus Worldwide DMCC, and its acquisition vehicle, Zara Merger Sub. Upon deal completion, Assertio will be delisted.Assertio markets a portfolio of branded prescription products in the US, including Rolvedon, a long-acting treatment for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. The company intends to use the acquired commercial platform and oncology relationships to expand its specialty oncology presence in the US market.
