Government VC investments hit record $61.9 million in 2026

Excerpts:Government-backed venture capital (VC) funds have pumped a record $61.9 million into Indian startups so far in 2026, already surpassing full year totals for each of the last seven years, according to data from Venture Intelligence. With the count as of July 17 standing at 13 deals, 2026 has overtaken the deal amount of $44.4 million in 2024 and $42.3 million in 2025 to become the most active year yet for state and central government-backed VC funds.
