Griffin Global to buy, lease back 5 Boeing planes to Jhunjhunwala-backed Akasa Air
Dublin, Ireland-based Griffin Global Asset Management will purchase and lease back five Boeing 737-8 aircraft with Rakesh Jhunjhunwala-backed Akasa Air. The aircraft deliveries are scheduled to begin in June 2022 and will include Akasa Air's first several aircraft. Griffin is a commercial aircraft leasing and alternative asset management business. Akasa Air plans to fly 18 aircraft by the end of March 2023 across domestic routes in the country, focusing on metro to tier-2 and tier-3 cities. The airline is backed by investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and aviation veterans Vinay Dube and Aditya Ghosh.
