Indian origin profs’ robotics co. Skild AI raises $300-M
Pittsburgh, USA-based robotics startup Skild AI , founded by former Carnegie Mellon University professors Abhinav Gupta and Deepak Pathak, has raised USD 300 million in a Series A funding round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, Coatue, SoftBankGroup, and Jeff Bezos (through Bezos Expeditions) at a valuation of USD 1.5 Billion. Other participating investors include Felicis Ventures, Sequoia Capital, Menlo Ventures, General Catalyst, CRV, Amazon, SV Angel, and Carnegie Mellon University.The startup, launched in 2023, builds artificial intelligence-powered brains for robots. It will use the new capital to expand its training datasets for future commercial use. Additionally, the funds will support hiring in AI, robotics, engineering, operations, and security teams.
