AC maker Optimist raises $12-M from Accel, Arkam ventures
Gurugram-based air conditioning startup Optimist has raised USD 12 million in a funding round led by Accel and Arkam Ventures. The round also included participation from Sparrow Capital and angel investors such as Ather Energy founders Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain, and Bombay Shaving Company’s founder Shantanu Deshpande.Founded in 2024 by Ashish Goel and Pranav Chopra, Optimist claims to design and manufacture air conditioners suited to India’s weather conditions. The company will sell its products via its direct-to-consumer (D2C) platform and exclusive brand stores and will launch its products next month across Delhi NCR, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Bengaluru, before expanding to other cities. It plans to deploy the new capital towards research and development, go-to-market expansion, strengthening its retail service network, and scaling up manufacturing.
