Accel raises $550-M for 9th India VC fund

Accel India has raised USD 550 million for its ninth early-stage focused VC fund. The firm focuses on consumer, advanced manufacturing, and fintech sectors. It is increasingly betting on AI-first companies that build vertical applications and infrastructure. Its portfolio includes companies such as Zetwerk, Simplify, and Captain Fresh, as well as newer investments in deep tech and robotics, including Sarla Aviation, Fabheads Automation, Scimplify, and Unmannd.Accel India’s US-based parent firm, Accel Partners, has simultaneously raised a USD 1.35 Billion growth fund which would also invest in India-based growth stage companies.Accel plans to use the new funds to continue its investment pace in India, where it has now raised USD 1.2 Billion over the last 18 months. Accel expects to begin deploying capital from this new fund starting next year, while continuing to support its existing portfolio companies with follow-on capital.
