AI infra firm Sarvam raises $234-M from HCL Tech, Bessemer, existing investors; turns Unicorn
Bengaluru-based Sarvam AI has raised USD 234 million in the first close of a Series B funding round led by HCL Technologies, which committed USD 150 million for a 10.46% stake in the firm. Bessemer Venture Partners participated in the round alongside existing investors Khosla Ventures and Peak XV Partners.Founded in 2023 by Vivek Raghavan and Pratyush Kumar, Sarvam builds sovereign AI infrastructure. The firm trains its own models and specializes in developing technology for air-gapped systems and agentic, coding, and cybersecurity use cases.The company plans to use the new funds to build frontier models, invest in computing infrastructure, and deploy full frontier applications across sectors including banking, insurance, government technology, and defence. The firm also continues to expand its model portfolio, which includes the Sarvam Vision model used for digitising documents.
Between Aug 2023 and Aug 2025, Sarvam AI had attracted about $ 54 M from Khosla Ventures, Lightspeed Ventures, Peak XV Partners, VH Capital and others.For FY25, Sarvam AI had reported about INR 2 Cr in Operating Income and about INR 102 Cr in Net Loss.
