Airbound raises $8.6 M to scale logistics drone manufacturing

Bengaluru-based logistics drone manufacturer Airbound has raised USD 8.6 million (around INR 76 Cr) in its seed funding round led by US-based Physical Intelligence’s founder Lachy Groom with participation from Humba Ventures, existing investor Lightspeed and senior leaders at Tesla, Anduril and Ather Energy.Founded in 2023 by Pushp and Faraaz Baig, Airbound manufactures blended wing body tailsitter design drones, called TRT for transporting blood samples and other medical essentials from rural health centres to urban testing facilities.The new funds will be used to scale drone manufacturing and improve reliability of its drones. A part of the capital will also be used to expand operations beyond medical deliveries, refine its technology, and prepare for the wider market.

In Nov 2024, Airbound had attracted about USD 2 M from Lightspeed Ventures and others.
