Axis Bank explores increasing stake in insurance JV from 20% to 30%
Axis Bank is evaluating a potential increase in its shareholding in Gurugram-based insurance firm Axis Max Life Insurance from the current 19.99% to 30%. The bank is preparing to assess the feasibility of this move internally and plans to engage with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to seek regulatory approval.Axis Max Life Insurance is a joint venture between the bank and Max Financial Services, with the latter holding 80.01%. The insurance firm reported a net profit of INR 54-Cr in FY26. It has secured 1.01 crore lives and manages assets totalling INR 1.75 lakh crore.The cost for an additional 10.01% stake is estimated at approximately INR 3,900-Cr based on previous valuations.
For FY25, Axis Max Life Insurance had reported about INR 660 Cr in Operating Income and about INR 359 Cr in PAT.
