Bain Capital in talks to acquire 25% stake in IndusInd’s general insurance arm for Rs.4,000-Cr
Bain Capital is in talks to acquire a 25% stake in Mumbai-based IndusInd General Insurance from the Hinduja Group’s Mauritius-based investment arm, IndusInd International Holdings. The transaction is expected to peg the enterprise at about INR 16,000-Cr. Bain Capital is expected to invest about INR 4,000-Cr. Barclays is acting as the financial advisor to IndusInd for the proposed stake sale.IndusInd General Insurance offers retail, commercial, and crop insurance products. The company reported a gross written premium of INR 12,236-Cr for the fiscal year 2026. The firm plans to use the fresh capital to bolster its solvency position and support ongoing efforts to expand its presence in the health and fire insurance segments.The deal, which is expected to be finalized by late August or early September, marks the first direct investment by Bain Capital in India’s general insurance sector.
