Bain Capital in talks to acquire majority stake in Cello World for over Rs.3,000-Cr
Global Private Equity firm Bain Capital is leading discussions to acquire a controlling stake in the publicly listed, Mumbai-based Cello World from its promoters, who currently hold a 75% stake in the company. Kotak Investment Banking is acting as the financial advisor to the promoters for the transaction, which is valued at over INR 3,000 crore.Established in the 1960s by Ghisulal Rathod, Cello World operates a diverse portfolio of consumerware, including kitchen appliances, cookware, lunch boxes, and hydration products. The company currently manages 13 manufacturing facilities across five strategic locations in India and maintains a distribution network of more than 700 distributors and 50,000 retail touchpoints.Cello World went public in November 2023 through an initial public offering that consisted entirely of an offer for sale by the promoter family.
In Oct 2022, Cello World had attracted about $58 M from ICICI Venture, Tata Capital Growth Fund.For FY25, Cello World had reported about INR 1,113 Cr in Operating Income and about INR 98 Cr in PAT.
