Bajaj Finserv to launch AI focused PE fund, invest Rs.400-450-Cr

Bengaluru-based Bajaj Finserv plans to establish an alternative investment fund (AIF) dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) investments and will also make direct investments in early-stage AI startups from its balance sheet. The diversified financial services group expects to invest INR 400-450 Cr in FY27 through both its balance sheet and the AIF, which is anticipated to be among the largest AI-focused funds in India. Bajaj Finserv's alternative investment arm, Bajaj Alts, led by Lakshmi Iyer, will manage this AI fund, in addition to two other funds focused on real estate and public market investments.Bajaj Finserv evaluates over 200 startups annually to identify technologies for adoption. It collaborates with these companies and invests in those possessing unique capabilities, providing use cases and scale beyond capital. The group views these AI investments as a natural step to back intelligence at scale.
