Belgium's Verlinvest picks up controlling stake in fertility chain Ferty9

Economic Times

Brussels-based Verlinvest, an investment company founded by the families of beer maker AB-Inbev, has acquired a controlling stake in Hyderabad-headquartered fertility chain Ferty9 Fertility Center. Verlinvest has partnered with fertility sector expert Vinesh Gadhia, who will lead Ferty9 as its Chief Executive Officer. (Gadhia was a founding member of Nova IVF, which was acquired by TPG-backed Asia Healthcare Holdings.) Verlinvest will build Ferty9 as a platform with a commitment of USD 50 million and will acquire fertility clinics across major cities in India. Ferty9, which currently has seven centres in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, was founded by Dr. C. Jyothi Budi and partners in 2013. The deal is Verlinvest's first investment in the Indian healthcare sector and also marks the firm's first control deal in the country.
