Ben Watsa to succeed dad Prem Watsa as chair of $100-B Fairfax Financial
Indian-Canadian investor Prem Watsa has designated his son, Ben Watsa, as the future chairman of Toronto-based Fairfax Financial Holdings , which manages assets worth USD 100 Billion.Ben Watsa, 46, is currently at the helm of Marval Capital, a fund management company exclusively focused on investments in Indian equities. This fund boasts a corpus of USD 400 million and has demonstrated annualised returns of 30% over a five-year span, earning recognition as Canada's top institutional fund. Ben Watsa has been a member of the Fairfax Financial Holdings board since 2014, while his sister, Christine McLean, joined the board in 2018.Fairfax has committed USD 7 Billion across various holdings in India.Its portfolio includes a controlling stake in Bengaluru International Airport, alongside ownership in GoDigit Insurance, Thomas Cook India, Quess Corp, and CSB Bank. Fairfax is also being considered as a prospective acquirer for IDBI Bank.
