BlackSoil backs mgmt buyout of Walton Street Capital's India real estate lending arm
Alternative credit platform BlackSoil and the former India-based management team of US-based realty investment adviser Walton Street Capital (WSC) have joined hands to acquire Walton Street India's real estate debt business. WSC's India management team is led by Kaushik Desai, Vinit Prabhugaonkar and Vimal Jangla and had led India-based equity and debt deals of the firm totalling around USD 300 million over the last 12 years. WSC has real estate and real estate-related assets under management worth USD 12 billion and started operations in India in 2007. Its equity investments in India are not part of the transaction. Walton Street India had collaborated with BlackSoil to raise the about INR 320-crore Walton Street BlackSoil Real Estate Debt Fund I. The Fund was fully deployed across 10 investments in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
