Blockchain-based social media platform Hunch attracts $23-M
Delhi- and Dubai-based web3 technologies based social media platform Hunch has attracted USD 23 million in its Series A funding round led by US-based Alpha Wave. The round also saw participation from South Korea-based Hashed Emergent. Founded in 2022 by Ish Goel, Nitika Goel and Kartic Rakhra, Hunch operates a polling platform that allows users to vote and interact with each other.The fresh funds raised would go into strengthening the firm’s tech infrastructure and improving its AI and machine learning (ML) prowess to enhance feed personalisation. The firm would also spend on marketing in the US. Hunch employs about 70 people across Delhi, Singapore and London. Hunch had earlier raised USD 3 million in seed funding in December 2022, when it first launched its app.The platform claims to currently see about 220,000 monthly active users (MAU) engage with over 300 different categories of interests like politics, sports, relationship advice and so on. About 85% of its user base is in India, with the rest coming from the US.
