CBI files case against Jai Corp, director Anand Jain in Urban Infra case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a case against Jai Corporation Ltd and its director Anand Jain over allegations of misappropriation of over INR 2,000 crore. The investigation encompasses Urban Infrastructure Venture Capital, Urban Infrastructure Trustees Ltd and other parties, following the Bombay High Court's instructions.In February, Bombay High Court had directed the CBI to form a special investigation team (SIT) to conduct an investigation, in response to a petition by activist Shoaib Richie Sequeira, who alleged misuse and misappropriation of public funds for personal gains, defrauding investors, round-tripping of funds through shell companies based in tax havens, and creation of dubious invoices.
