Chatbot firm Gupshup acquires Sequoia-backed cloud telephony startup Knowlarity
Mumbai-based conversational messaging Unicorn company Gupshup has acquired New Delhi-based Knowlarity Communications, a cloud telephony startup. Knowlarity offers cloud telephony, contact centre automation, AI-powered voice assistants and speech analytics solutions to over 6,000 customers across 65 countries. Its revenues grew 50% over the previous year, while international revenues grew 100% in the same period. Sequoia Capital India, the key investor in Knowlarity is expected to remain invested in the merged entity. The acquisition, projected to complement Gupshup's conversational messaging suite, is expected to close by the end of February 2022. DC Advisory acted as the sole financial advisor to Knowlarity on the transaction.

Between Jul-08 and Jul-21, Gupshup raised $374-M from Malabar Investments, Neuberger Berman, Harbor Spring Capital, White Oak Capital Management, Think Investments, Fidelity India, Tiger Global, New Horizons, Tenaya Capital, Globespan Capital Partners, Charles River Ventures, Helion Ventures, and others.
