ChrysCapital to acquire 25% stake in brain-care-focused Linux Labs for $65-M

Private equity firm ChrysCapital is to acquire a 20-25% stake in the Chennai-based company, Linux Laboratories , for about USD 60-65 million (INR 600-Cr). As part of the transaction, existing investor Tata Capital Healthcare Fund, which originally invested INR 80-Cr in the company in 2021, will exit its entire 15% stake. ChrysCapital will also participate in a primary capital infusion to acquire an additional 5-10% stake.Founded in 2007, Linux Laboratories produces domestic formulations for therapeutic segments, including neurology, psychiatry, and cosmetic dermatology. The company manages a portfolio comprising more than 64 brands across 180 products.The company plans to use the capital from the primary infusion for its business operations. Post-investment, the founders of Linux Laboratories, Keerthivasan K, Ananda Kumar Sundharam, and Hariharan Parameswaran, who currently hold an 84.68% stake, will remain the majority shareholders.

In Feb 2021, Linux Laboratories had attracted funding $ 4.8 M from Tata Capital Healthcare Fund.For FY25, Linux Laboratories had reported about INR 259 Cr in Operating Income and about INR 22 Cr in PAT/Net Loss.
