Climate-tech co. Alt Carbon bags $12-M
Bengaluru-based deep-tech startup Alt Carbon has raised USD 12 million (around INR 102.8 crore) in its seed funding round led by AI robotics company Physical Intelligence’s founder and chief executive Lachy Groom. The round also saw participation from Shastra VC and a clutch of angel investors, including Jason Zhao, Amrendra Singh, Tanmay Bhat, Arjun Soin, Nakuul Mehta, Arjun Ramani, Advaith Vishwanath and Rahul Seth.The company plans to use the new funds to build new projects enabling carbon dioxide removal (CDR) across South Asia.Founded in 2023 by Shrey and Sparsh Agarwal, Alt Carbon assists farmers and scientists in using dormant lands as carbon removal sinks using Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) technology.
In Dec 2023, Alt Carbon had attracted about USD 0.55 M from PointOne Capital, Shastra VC and others.
