Bengaluru-based CarbonStrong has raised INR 12.5 crore in a seed funding round co-led by IAN Angel Fund and Rainmatter. The transaction saw participation from Social Alpha, Full Circle Ventures and existing investors Momentum Capital and Spectrum Impact.Founded in 2022 by Harsh Jain and Vikramaditya Singh, CarbonStrong produces low-carbon binders by upcycling industrial waste to replace up to 50% of cement in concrete. The company processes industrial waste from the coal and steel sectors to create high-performance cementitious materials designed to reduce costs and carbon footprints without modifying existing manufacturing processes.The company plans to use the new funds to set up its first production facility, expand its team, conduct product development and testing and scale operations from customer trials to commercial production.
