Climate-tech co. Varaha raises $20-M from WestBridge, others
Gurugram-based carbon removal project developer Varaha has raised USD 20 Million as the first close of its ongoing USD 45 Million Series B funding round. The round was led by WestBridge Capital, with existing investors Omnivore Ventures and RTP Global participating. This investment marks WestBridge's first in the climate tech sector.Founded in 2022 by Madhur Jain, Ankita Garg, and Vishal Kuchanur, Varaha operates 20 carbon dioxide removal projects across India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and the Ivory Coast. The company generates carbon credits by enabling farmers with small landholdings to adopt regenerative agriculture and agroforestry, which businesses then use to offset their greenhouse gas emissions.The newly raised capital will be used to expand the company's footprint, enhance its scientific and measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) capabilities, and scale a new industrial partnership model globally.
Between Dec 2022 and Nov 2025, Varaha had attracted about USD 42 M from Omnivore Partners, RTP Global, Orios VP, Better Capital, AgFunder, Octave Ventures, Others.
