Climate-tech startup Brisil raises Rs.3-Cr led by Momentum Capital
Gujarat-based Brisil Technologies has raised INR 3 crore in a pre-seed funding round led by Momentum Capital, with participation from Fondation Botnar.Founded in 2016 by Tanmay Pandya, Brisil is a sustainability-focused startup that creates a circular economy for the silica industry. It produces sustainable silica from rice husk ash, offering a sustainable alternative to current silica production methods which contribute to high greenhouse gas emissions. The company operates a commercial facility with a monthly production capacity of 400 tonnes and intends to increase this to 3,000-5,000 tonnes per month to meet demand from customers in the tyres, footwear, paints, and allied industries across domestic and international markets, including South East Asia and Europe.The company plans to use the new funds to expand its production capacity using its proprietary zero waste chemical process, strengthen its team, and scale operations to address global demand for silica.
