CreditAccess India sells 2.28% stake in MFI arm CreditAccess Grameen

CreditAccess India, the promoter of the Bengaluru-based microfinance lender CreditAccess Grameen , has sold a 2.28% stake (3.66 million shares) in the company through block deals in the open market.Established in 1991 by Paolo Brichetti, CreditAccess Grameen is a non-banking financial company and microfinance institution. The company operates as a pure-play microfinance lender.The promoter group initiated this stake sale to offer liquidity to long-term investors and to increase the company's free float. Prior to this transaction, the promoter held a 66.21% stake in CreditAccess Grameen as of the end of June.

CreditAccess Asia first invested in CreditAccess Grameen in Oct 2009. The company went public in Aug 2018, as part of which CreditAccess Asia had made a partial exit. It subsequently sold shares in Jun 2023.For FY25, CreditAccess Grameen had reported about INR 5,752 Cr in Operating Income and about INR 531 Cr in PAT.
