D2C bakery brand Baker's Dozen raises $5-M from Fireside Ventures

The Baker's Dozen, an Ahmedabad-headquartered direct-to-consumer (D2C) bakery brand, has raised USD 5 million in a mix of debt and equity, led by Fireside Ventures. It plans to use the money to invest in R&D, hire executives, for marketing, for upgrading technology including demand forecasting and to expand its distribution network. Founded in 2013 by Sneh Jain and wife Aditi Handa, who is the head baker at The Baker's Dozen, the startup produces sourdough bread, cakes, cookies and crackers from a factory near Ahmedabad. The company claims to have seen sales grow 5x to INR 30 crore in FY22 as it made significant headway online through e-commerce marketplaces. The firm has 39 plus stores across 9 cities.
