D2C non-life insurance platform Acko raises funding from MS Dhoni’s family office

Cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni has made a strategic investment in Bengaluru-based direct-to-customer (D2C) insurance platform Acko through his family office, Midas Deals. He will also serve as Acko’s brand ambassador.Founded in 2016 by Varun Dua, Acko focuses on providing a range of insurance products and services, primarily through its online platform. It claims to have a customer base of 70 million and processes more than two million insurance claims annually in the motor, health, and travel segments.

Between Nov 2016 and Aug 2024, Acko had attracted about USD 484 M from Accel India, Catamaran, Elevation Capital, Pratithi Investments, Arpwood Partners, Amazon, Intact Ventures, RPS Ventures, Techpro Ventures, Ascent Capital, Baring India, Ventureast, Munich Re Ventures, CPPIB, General Atlantic, Lightspeed Ventures, Multiples and others.For FY24, Acko had reported about INR 2,106 Cr in Operating Income and about INR 670 Cr in Net Loss.
