Defence-focused AI co. Blurgs raises $2.2 M led by Pravega Ventures, Shastra VC
Bangalore-based deep-tech company Blurgs AI has raised USD 2.2 million in a funding round led by Pravega Ventures and Shastra VC. The round included participation from angel investors Suraj Nalin, co-founder of PlaySimple Games, and Yashwanth Madhusudhan, co-founder of Fyle.Founded in 2020 by IIT-Madras alumni Roshan Raj Mohanty and Avinash Kori, Blurgs AI provides artificial intelligence-powered platforms for defence, national security, and commercial maritime markets.The company serves the Indian Navy, the Indian Coast Guard, Bharat Electronics, DRDO Laboratories, Mumbai Port Authority, Dubai Maritime City, and The Nature Conservancy. Its commercial platforms focus on operational intelligence, real-time visibility, and regulatory compliance, while its defence-focused platforms support threat detection, adversary monitoring, and cross-domain situational awareness.The company plans to use the new funds to strengthen its core technology, expand team, and accelerate product development across ports, shipyards, fisheries management, and ocean conservation, while also enhancing its defence capabilities and expanding into international markets.
