Edtech unicorn Byju's acquires learning app Toppr, upskilling platform Great Learning for $750-M
Edtech unicorn Byju's has acquired Mumbai-based after-school learning app Toppr and fellow Bengaluru-based upskilling platform Great Learning, in a cash and stock deal. Byju's is expected to spend USD 600 million to acquire Great Learning and USD 150 million for the acquisition of Toppr. With the Great Learning acquisition, Byju's will enter the upskilling and reskilling segment. The acquisition of Toppr would help the edtech firm consolidate and improve its market position in the K-12 learning segment.
From the Venture Intelligence PE-VC Deal Database: Starting Mar-14, Toppr had raised more than INR 600 crore from Axis Capital Partners, Kaizen PE, Helion Ventures, Eight Roads Ventures, Elevation Capital and Foundation Holdings.
