Education loans player Varthana attracts $15-M from BlueOrchard Microfinance Fund
Bengaluru-based, education-focused non-banking finance company (NBFC) Varthana has raised USD 15 million (about INR 120 crore) in external commercial borrowings (ECBs) from BlueOrchard Microfinance Fund, managed by impact investor BlueOrchard.Varthana offers financial aid to private schools for infrastructure development and vocational stream students in Tier II and III cities for skill-based learning programmes. It claims to have financed more than 11,000 affordable private schools and facilitated over 16,500 loans for school expansion and renovation.
