English tutoring co. SpeakX raises funding from cricketer MS Dhoni
Gurugram-based edtech company SpeakX has onboarded cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni as investor and brand ambassador.Founded in 2020 by Arpit Mittal, SpeakX (formerly known as Yellow Class) provides English tutoring services. The company follows a freemium model and claims having about 2 lakh active paid subscribers. Following its pivot to English language skills in 2023, it now uses GenAI to provide AI-tutor services.The company plans to use the new funds to expand its presence across India, specifically by increasing its regional-language offerings. Having shifted from a Hindi-first approach to including languages such as Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Marathi, the company aims to deepen its market penetration, particularly in South India.
Between Dec 2020 and Jun 2025, SpeakX had attracted about $ 24 M from Elevation Capital, Goodwater Capital, WestBridge, India Quotient, Others.For FY25, SpeakX had reported about INR 9 Cr in Operating Income and about INR 8 Cr in Net loss.
