E-sports platform MPL raises $150-M from Legatum Capital, others

Bangalore-headquartered e-sports platform Mobile Premier League (MPL) has raised USD 150 million (about INR 1,104 crore) in a Series E funding round led by Legatum Capital at a pre-money valuation of USD 2.3 billion. Existing investors including Sequoia Capital India, SIG, RTP Global, Go-Ventures, Moore Strategic Ventures, Play Ventures, Base Partners, Telstra Ventures, and Founders Circle Capital also participated in the round that has provided MPL Unicorn status. MPL will use the fresh infusion of capital to finance its global expansion, invest in its home-grown technology, and drive continued growth in the Indian market. The firm recently began operations in the US and has completed two years of operations in Indonesia. MPL claims to have over 85 million registered users globally.
