Exotel to acquire contact centre s'ware provider Ameyo
Bengaluru-based cloud telephony company Exotel and Gurugram-based contact centre software provider Ameyo have agreed to merge to jointly address the market for cloud-based contact centre services. The two expect that their combined offering will address the needs of most large contact centre customers in emerging markets, who want to shift immediately to the cloud-based offerings due to fallout from the COVID pandemic. The deal will see investors in Ameyo (who held 80% of the shareholding) exiting with cash. CEO Sachin Bhatia and other ESOP holders in the company will get a stake in Exotel. The deal is expected to complete in 6-9 months via an NCLT-ordered process. Post deal, while Bhatia will remain the CEO of Ameyo, his co-founders Bishal Lachhiramka and Nayan Jain will exit the company. Indigoedge and Zanskar were the advisers to Exotel and Ameyo respectively on the merger.
From the Venture Intelligence PE-VC Deal Database: In Jul-15, Ameyo had raised $4-M from Forum Synergies. Between Jul-12 and Jun-21, Exotel had raised over $12-M from A91 Partners, Blume Ventures and others.
