Flight taxi operator Sarla Aviation raises $10-M from Accel, angels
Bengaluru-based aerospace startup Sarla Aviation has raised USD 10 million in a funding round led by Accel India with participation from angel investors including Binny Bansal (Flipkart co-founder), Nikhil Kamath (Zerodha co-founder) and Sriharsha Majety (Swiggy), Abhiraj Singh Bhal (Urban Company), Abhishek Goyal (Tracxn), Ramakant Sharma (LivSpace), Sujeet Kumar (Udaan), Manish Agarwal (Kratos) and Sandeep Nailwal (Polygon).The proceeds will be used to advance the development of flying taxis, set up a research and development centre, and expand workforce. The company is targeting a market launch by 2028.Founded in 2024 by engineers Adrian Schmidt, Rakesh Gaonkar and Shivam Chauhan, Sarla Aviation is set to unveil its first flying taxi prototype, Shunya. The aircraft is designed to carry up to 680 kilograms, with a seating capacity for six passengers.
