Govt commits Rs.30,000-Cr more for NIIF
The government has committed an additional INR 30,000 crore to the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) , raising its total investment commitment in the quasi-sovereign wealth fund to INR 60,000 crore. The newly pledged funds will be allocated toward the establishment of the NIIF’s second infrastructure-focused fund as well as to support new investment strategies and bilateral strategic funds. These resources are intended to accelerate development across sectors such as energy, transportation, digital infrastructure, and urban development, aiding broader economic growth and job creation.The government maintains a 49% stake in the NIIF, which currently manages total capital commitments of approximately INR 40,000 crore. To date, the NIIF has returned nearly INR 12,000 crore to investors through portfolio exits.
