Hero MotoCorp invests Rs.1,758-Cr more in electric scooter maker Ather Energy to up stake to 33%

Hero MotoCorp has increased its stake in electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy to about 32.8% by acquiring 1.19 crore shares from GIC, the sovereign wealth fund of Singapore. The transaction was executed at INR 1,480 per share, valuing the deal at approximately INR 1,758.24-Cr.Ather Energy makes electric two-wheelers and also develops charging infrastructure. The company recently raised INR 1,200-Cr through a preferential issue, which included investments of approximately INR 960-Cr from Hero MotoCorp, INR 200-Cr from the India-Japan Fund, and INR 20-Cr each from co-founders Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain.
GIC first invested in Ather Energy in May 2022. The company went public in Apr 2025, as part of which, GIC had made a partial exit.Between Mar 2015 and Jul 2026, Ather Energy had attracted about $ 795 M from Hero Motocorp, NIIF, InnoVen Capital, GIC, InnoVen Capital, Others.For FY26, Ather Energy had reported about INR 3,672 Cr in Operating Income and about INR 517 Cr in Net loss.
