I Squared Capital launches $1-B platform ‘Cube Grid’ to invest in power transmission assets in India
Miami, US-headquartered I Squared Capital is launching a $1-B platform, Cube Grid, to invest in India's power transmission sector. The firm intends to build and acquire critical grid infrastructure to support the rising energy demand. I Squared Capital has signed definitive agreements for seed assets totalling more than 1,450 circuit kms of transmission lines and will develop the projects in partnership with the Dineshchandra Group.Cube Grid is modelled after Cube Highways, a road asset investment platform previously established by I Squared Capital in India. The firm aims to serve as a long-term holder of these transmission assets, which benefit from a concession framework that offers stable cash flows over long durations.I Squared Capital has invested $4-B in India to date across its portfolio companies. Its existing investments include participation from investors, including Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Mubadala, and British Columbia Investment Management.
