Intra-city air taxi service Sarla Aviation raises Rs.10-Cr from IndiGo
Bengaluru-based Sarla Aviation has received an equity investment of INR 10 crore from IndiGo Ventures, the investment arm of IndiGo. Earlier, in January 2025, the electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) startup raised USD 10 million in a funding round led by Accel, with participation from angel investors including Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal, Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, and Swiggy’s Sriharsha Majety. IndiGo's latest funding was at the Accel round's valuation.Founded in 2023 by Adrian Schmidt, Rakesh Gaonkar, and Shivam Chauhan, Sarla Aviation is developing the Shunya eVTOL for urban environments. The aircraft is designed to transport up to six passengers, excluding the pilot, and carry up to 680 kilograms.The startup plans to launch its air taxi service in Bengaluru by 2028, aiming to use existing helicopter landing pads at hotels, hospitals, and tech parks.
Between Apr 2024 and Feb 2025, Sarla Aviation had attracted about USD 11.55 M from Accel India, Campus Fund, K2 Capital, Singularity AMC, Theia Ventures, and others.
