Japan’s Daiwa Securities invests Rs.285-Cr for 15% stake in Ambit’s wealth mgmt arm

Daiwa Securities Group has acquired a 15% stake in Mumbai-based Ambit Global Private Client (Ambit GPC), the wealth management arm of Ambit Group, for INR 285 crore.This is the third strategic alliance between the two entities. Daiwa previously invested in Ambit's holding company in 2022 and its lending business, Ambit Finvest. The current investment brings its cumulative investment in Ambit's various businesses to INR 1,435 crore. The entire investment for this stake in Ambit GPC is in the form of new capital.Ambit GPC, operational for six years, manages about USD 6 Billion in assets for 1,500 families, with an additional USD 4 billion under advice.The new funds will be used to expand the platform both in India and overseas, attract new talent, introduce bespoke products leveraging Daiwa’s existing product suite, and diversify its geographical footprint beyond Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, and Dubai to include Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kokata and Punjab.Ambit intends to leverage Daiwa's expertise to implement pre-packaged wealth management products (WRAP) and use Global X, a firm with Daiwa's strategic equity stake, for Japanese and US ETFs. It would also leverage Daiwa’s global presence for international market product offerings.
