Kidney diseases-focused biotech co. Helex raises $3.5-M led by pi Ventures
Hyderabad- and New York, USA-based biotechnology startup Helex has raised USD 3.5 million in a funding round led by pi Ventures. The round also saw participation from Bluehill Capital, SOSV, and a group of global investors. This investment brings the company's total funding to over USD 6 million.Founded in 2021 by Poulami Chaudhuri, Rohini Kalvakuntla, and Anirudh Nishtala, Helex develops a new class of targeted medicines for genetic kidney diseases using its proprietary LNP drug delivery and AI-based drug design platforms.The new funds will be used to accelerate preclinical studies for its lead program, which targets Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD), and to expand its LNP delivery and AI-driven genome drug design platforms.
