KKR set to acquire Swedish firm Medicover's Indian hospital biz for $1.5 B
KKR is set to acquire the Indian business of the Swedish healthcare chain Medicover , The transaction involves a 100% stake sale by existing shareholders and a commitment to provide primary capital for growth and debt repayment. KKR will invest between INR 13,000 crore and INR 14,000 crore, with about INR 3,000 crore and INR 4,000 crore allocated as primary capital. Kotak Mahindra and Rothschild are acting as advisors for the transaction. This is KKR’s third hospital acquisition in recent years.Medicover India, operating under the brand Sahrudaya HealthCare, manages 26 hospitals with over 6,000 beds across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. Founded in 2017, the network provides multi-speciality and super-speciality care, supported by more than 1,250 doctors. The chain’s clinical focus includes cardiology and neurology, and it plans to further diversify its portfolio.
