Lenskart founder buys shares worth Rs.222-Cr from existing investors
Lenskart founder Peyush Bansal has acquired a 2.5% stake (42.7 million shares at INR 52 a piece) in the Gurugram-based omnichannel eyewear retailer for INR 222 crore from SoftBank, Chiratae Ventures, Kedaara Capital, TR Capital, Temasek, Premji Invest and others at a valuation of over INR 8,700 crore (around USD 1 Billion).Bansal, who owns a 10.3% stake in Lenskart, is also set to sell 20.5 million shares in the IPO offer-for-sale component of its IPO. At the INR 70,000-75,000 crore (around USD 8-9 Billion) valuation at which Lenskart is aiming to go public, the sale could result in proceeds of around INR 700-750 crore for Bansal.
Between Oct 2011 and Jun 2024, Lenskart had attracted funding of about $2 B from Chiratae Ventures, Unilazer Ventures, TPG Growth, TR Capital, Pratithi Investments, PremjiInvest, Epiq Capital, Steadview Capital, SoftBank Corp, Alpha Wave Global and others.For FY24, Lenskart had reported about INR 5,428 Cr in Operating Income and about INR 10 Cr in Net Loss.
