Macquarie acquires stake in Maple Infrastructure Trust for $450-M
Australia’s Macquarie Asset Management has acquired a stake in Mumbai-based Maple Infrastructure Trust from the global investment group La Caisse. Through its fourth Asia-Pacific Infrastructure Fund, Macquarie has invested USD 450-M in the transaction, which includes USD 150-M earmarked for future acquisitions.Additionally, La Caisse has infused USD 150-M into the company to support its growth initiatives. Post transaction, the two firms will jointly own controlling stakes in the Infrastructure Investment Trust’s investment manager and project manager.Established in 2021 and sponsored by Canada-based La Caisse, Maple Infrastructure Trust owns and operates seven toll roads across India. The company manages a road network spanning about 3,328 kms under long-term concession frameworks.The investment aims to support the company’s next phase of growth by leveraging the operational expertise and asset management capabilities of both Macquarie Asset Management and La Caisse.
