Malaysia’s Gentari to buy Brookfield’s 2.2 GW assets for $900-M: report
Gentari Sdn Bhd, the clean energy arm of Malaysia’s state-run Petronas Group, is to acquire a part of the Indian renewables portfolio, comprising 2.2 GW portfolio of assets, of Brookfield Asset Management for USD 900 million, inclusive of debt. The deal involves both operational and under-construction projects. While 1 GW is operational, another 1.2 GW is in the pipeline, expected to be completed within the next 18 months. These projects are in four clusters - 500 MW in Rajasthan, 50 MW in Gujarat, 300 MW in south India and 80 MW in Madhya Pradesh.This is the first time Brookfield is monetising part of its green energy portfolio after building, acquiring and operating the assets for over five years.
