Materials science player Whizzo raises $4.2 M from Lightspeed, Beenext
Bengaluru-based Whizzo , a materials science manufacturing company focused on engineered fashion and technical textiles, has raised USD 4.2 million (about INR 36 crore) in a seed funding round led by multi-stage venture capital firm Lightspeed Ventures with participation from Beenext.The new funds will be used for materials science research and development (R&D), for setting up a design lab for fashion-engineered textiles and strengthening its supply chain infrastructure in India, Vietnam, China, Bangladesh and Indonesia.Founded in 2024 by Shrestha Kukreja, the startup specialises in engineered and technical textiles, using woven, non-woven and composite technologies to provide solutions across industries such as medical textiles, packaging textiles, industrial textiles and clothing textiles. It develops blends of textiles including cellulosic and polymer-based fibres, customised for various industries. The firm is currently serving more than 25 clients.
